Durante il mese di settembre 2022, abbiamo ospitato tre artiste: Yuan Lin, artista visiva originaria dalla Cina, Mollie O'Leary, scrittrice originaria dagli Stati Uniti, e Maraingela Ratto, artista visiva originaria dal Brasile. Questa domenica vi invitiamo a trascorrere alcune ore d'arte insieme. Alle 12:00 le artiste presenteranno il lavoro sviluppato durante il mese a 33OC, e condivideranno con voi il loro processo creativo. Vi aspettiamo numerosi!
YUAN LIN
Durante le passeggiate tra Toffia e i paesi vicini, raccoglievo oggetti sulle strade e sui sentieri: cortecce, ossa, proiettili di arma da fuoco, animali di peluche, la pelle di un pallone da rugby, ecc. Volevo che gli oggetti parlino tra loro, quindi ho iniziato a creare sculture mobili e macchine di cartone. Alla fine voglio creare un cosmo del territorio, unendo i formati del circo, del teatro delle marionette e delle lanterne. Questo progetto celebra il cerchio della vita, proprio come il paesaggio e le rocce sedimentarie che vedo qui in montagna: da lontano, la terra sembra l'oceano; in realtà era l'oceano e lo diventerà di nuovo…
Yuan Lin (Wendy) è un artista concettuale che lavora con tutto e niente. È nata a Shanghai, in Cina, ha studiato arte e teatro negli Stati Uniti, e ha lavorato come insegnante di recitazione, e successivamente come designer di video e grafica in Cina. Attualmente sta facendo un master in design grafico in Germania.
MOLLIE O'LEARY
Durante questa residenza, ho scritto poesie in risposta all'opera d'arte e alla natura che ho incontrato mentre ero in Italia ed a Toffia. Ho due poesie in risposta alle sculture del Bernini che ho visto a Roma e una poesia in risposta al paesaggio di Toffia. La storia dietro ogni scultura e dietro la stessa Toffia sono diventati veicoli che mi hanno permesso di raccontare le mie storie.
Mollie O'Leary è una poetessa del Massachusetts, USA. Ha conseguito un Master of Fine Arts in Poetry e un Laurea in Letteratura Inglese e Filosofia.
MARIANGELA RATTO
Toffia - Qui vivi bene
Nel mio progetto a Toffia ho cercato di raccogliere diverse impressioni del paese per formare un libro-oggetto. Gli elementi principali del libro sono stati ottenuti fotografando e parlando con i residenti. Partendo da queste conversazioni ho scritto un breve testo. Per realizzare il libro ho utilizzato anche stampe naturalistiche e impressioni di testure del villaggio.
Mariangela Ratto è un'artista visiva e fotografa originaria da Brasile. I suoi lavori consistono in interventi urbani e pubblicazioni indipendenti. Come educatrice presso l'ONG Gotas de Flor com Amor, ha insegnato fotografia e arte a bambini socialmente vulnerabili. Ha pubblicato libri d'artista come: A Voz do Olhar (Eyes that Talk) (2022), Diário da Casa da Lapa (2021), Parque Ibirapuera (2020), Vila Itororó (2019) e la zine Olhos da Cidade (2018). Si è laureata in Fotografia e Arte Contemporanea presso SENAC nel 2021. Il suo ultimo lavoro è stato: Fotografia nel intervento urbano.

During the month of September we hosted three artists: Yuan Lin, visual artist from Cina, Mollie O'Leary, poet from the US and Maraingela Ratto, visual artist from Brasil. This Sunday we invite you to spend a few ours of art with them. At 12:00 am, the artists will present the work developed during the month at 33OC and will share their creative process. We hope many of you will join us!
YUAN LIN
During walks between Toffia and nearby towns, I picked up objects on the roads and trails - barks, bones, shot gun shells, stuffed animals, skin of a rugby ball, etc. I wanted the objects to talk to each other, so I started making mobiles and cardboard machines. In the end, I want to create a cosmos of the area, combining the format of a circus, puppet theater and lanterns. This project celebrates the circle of life, just like the landscape and the sedimentary rocks I see here in the mountains - from afar, the land looks like the ocean; actually it used to be the ocean, and will become one again…
Yuan Lin (Wendy) is a conceptual artist and works with everything and nothing. She was born in Shanghai, China, studied studio art and theatre in the U.S., and worked as a drama teacher and later video- and graphic designer in China. She is currently doing a graphic design master program in Germany.
MOLLIE O'LEARY
During this residency, I wrote poetry in response to the artwork and nature I encountered while in Italy and Toffia. I have two poems in response to Bernini sculptures I saw in Rome and one poem in response to the landscape of Toffia. The history behind each sculpture and behind Toffia itself became vehicles that enabled me to tell my own stories.
Mollie O’Leary is a poet from Massachusetts, U.S.A. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy.

Toffia - Qui vivi bene
In my work in Toffia, I tried to collect impressions of the village in various ways to form an object-book. The main elements of the book were obtained by photographing and talking with the residents. Starting from these conversations I wrote a short text. To make the book I also used nature prints and impressions of textures from the village.
Mariangela Ratto is a visual artist and photographer from Brasil. Her works consists in urban interventions and independent publications. As art educator at the NGO Gotas de Flor com Amor, she taught photography and art to socially vulnerable children. She published artist books like: A Voz do Olhar (Eyes that Talk) (2022), Diário da Casa da Lapa (2021), Parque Ibirapuera (2020), Vila Itororó (2019) and the zine Olhos da Cidade (2018). She graduated in Photography and Contemporary Art from SENAC in 2021. Her latest work was: Photography in Urban Intervention.
